“Digital Innovation Hubs (DIH) to strengthen knowledge exchange with the SNS community and collaboration” event

First “Digital Innovation Hubs (DIH) to strengthen knowledge exchange with the SNS community and collaboration” event.

📅 Date: Thursday, 5 October 2023, 14:00-16:00

📍 Location: online.

👉 The DIH aims to facilitate the digitalisation of the European industry in the context of the Digital Europe Programme. SCoDIHNet is the network of DIHs with expertise in the domain of Smart Connectivity (5G/6G, IoT, Security).

DIHs aim to develop the links between end users (industry) and technology providers, of which SNS JU projects are considered key sources. To this end, various initiatives are being developed focusing on replicability, mapping of technology providers and end-user requirements.

The replicability initiative aims to facilitate the reuse of use cases/solutions developed and experimented with by SNS projects by compiling them in a regularly updated catalogue and from which DIHs could pick up use cases and solutions which fit their customers.

Network Applications: Opening up 5G and Beyond networks, V2.0

The concept of “Network Applications” is introduced following this idea. It is defined as a set of services that provides certain functionalities to verticals and their associated use cases.

The Network Applications is more than the introduction of new vertical applications that have interaction capabilities. It refers to the need for a separate middleware layer to simplify the implementation and deployment of vertical systems on a large scale. Specifically, third parties or network operators can contribute to Network Applications, depending on the level of interaction and trust.

In practice, a Network Application uses the exposed APIs from the network and can either be integrated with (part of) a vertical application or expose its APIs (e.g., service APIs) for further consumption by vertical applications.

This paper builds on the findings of the white paper released in 2022. It targets to go into details about the implementations of the two major Network Applications class: “aaS” and hybrid models. It introduces the Network Applications marketplace and put the light on technological solution like CAMARA project, as part of the standard landscape.

6G-IA White Paper “5G and Beyond 5G Ecosystem Business Modelling”

This white paper describes approaches to business modelling in the context of 5G and beyond 5G ecosystems. It first explains how the disaggregated and modular 5G and beyond 5G technologies enable a dynamic business ecosystem with a higher number of interdependent actor roles, actors, and business relationships. This leads to the challenge to identify and design sustainable business models in a highly dynamic and complex business environment.  The white paper proposes a methodology composed of five steps for how to carry out business modelling, catering for the perspectives of all actors.

The approach described in this white paper embraces existing insight from different analytic approaches such as the concepts of ecosystems, value networks, business and sustainability model canvassing, and the application thereof in many recent 5G projects. The projects, represented by their experts, serve as a source for inspiration and validate our stepwise model. In addition, contributors to the white paper have willingly shared insights from approaches they apply in their respective organizations. Finally, we present systematically how their business modelling is aligned with the five steps in our suggested approach.
