5G Network Programmability and Openness: A first Step towards 6G with native-AI capabilities” presentation during IEEE Conference on Standards for Communications and Networking 2022

Harilaos Koumaras EVOLVED-5G technical manager, presented “5G Network Programmability and Openness: A first Step towards 6G with native-AI capabilities” at IEEE Conference on Standards for Communications and Networking which took place on Thessaloniki, Greece on 28-30 November 2022. IEEE Conference on Standards for Communications and Networking (CSCN 2022) will deliver a rich technical program discussing the future of mobile communications systems, offering distinguished Keynotes, Panels, Tutorials and Technical Sessions. The Technical Sessions will consist of technical papers reviewed and selected by an international technical program committee representing both academia and industry, with a strong standardization background. IEEE CSCN 2022 will be an excellent networking and publicity event with strong presence of industry, offering the opportunity for academics and industrial people to meet and exchange ideas and information. This is indeed one of the main objectives of the conference. IEEE CSCN 2022 will be also a platform for presenting and discussing standards-related topics in the areas of communications, networking, cloud computing, and related disciplines, facilitating standards development as well as cooperation among the key players.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the IEEE CSCN 2022 conference will run in hybrid mode (i.e., using remote audio/video support and as an in-person event). The event will be collocated with the IEEE Standards Thessaloniki Summit 2022 with participation from all Standards Developing Organizations (SDOs). Furthermore, another 3 events will be collocated, an Industrial Workshop with Industrial Demos and Presentations, an IEEE Young Professionals (YP) Training on Standards/Standardization and a Mini YP/Students/Early Stage Researchers Forum.

“Intent-driven Chatbots for Precise Maintenance in 5G-enabled Industry 4.0 Environments” presentation at 24th Conference InfoCom World “Fiber & 5G Highways: DigitAll Greece!

Nikolaos Vrionis from INFOLYSiS, EVOLVED-5G partner, presented “Intent-driven Chatbots for Precise Maintenance in 5G-enabled Industry 4.0 Environments” during 24th Conference InfoCom World “Fiber & 5G Highways: DigitAll Greece. In this session, Nikolaos Vrionis presented the overall concept of EVOLVED-5G. He presented the way a chatbot is being used in the context of our project, while also sharing information about the nature of the chatbot. Also, briefly explained the role of INFOLYSiS in the project and especially in the first pillar, which is the main field of INFOLYSiS Chatbot. Furthermore a demo of the communication of chatbot and NEF emulator took place during his presentation. Finally, some information were shared about INFOLYSiS team and operational format. This presentation took place in the context of “Research Projects for creating the Future and Innovative Telecoms Market” and “Research Programs for the Creation of the Future and Innovative Telecommunications Market” sessions of the 24th Conference InfoCom World “Fiber & 5G Highways: DigitAll Greece. The proposed Workshop focuses thematically on the description of various -in progress- “European research programs for the creation of a future and innovative telecommunications market”. In particular, the Workshop aims to highlight many potential challenges arising from ongoing research funded by the European Commission but also to present various solutions regarding 5G networks and applications-services, capable of creating prospects for innovation and development. The Workshop is organized in nine (-9-) distinct thematic Sessions, in order to present both the scope and the results of the respective programs which are financed by the European Commission (in the context of H2020, 5G-PPP and SNS actions), in order to identify and to highlight growth opportunities for the market. There are strong conceptual interactions and common “grounds” between the thematic frameworks of the Synods. The proposed distinction can be evaluated as “indicative” and mainly as “oriented to relevant fields of the European Commission”, according to the current 5G-PPP/H2020 and/or SNS framework.

“Network Exposure Function simulator: Opening Up 5G network to Verticals” presentation at 24th Conference InfoCom World “Fiber & 5G Highways: DigitAll Greece!

Dimitrios Fragkos from NCSR DEMOKRITOS, EVOLVED-5G coordination team, presented “Network Exposure Function simulator: Opening Up 5G network to Verticals (Aspects from the Innovative Framework of the EVOLVED-5G Project)” during 24th Conference InfoCom World “Fiber & 5G Highways: DigitAll Greece. In this session our partner introduced the audience to 5G programmability sharing key aspects of 3GPP Network and NEF Emulator. “NetApp: Opening up 5G and beyond networks” White Paper

The 5GPP white paper entitled “NetApp: Opening up 5G and beyond networks” is now available! You may find it online along with EVOLVED-5G contributions here: https://5g-ppp.eu/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/5G-PPP-Software-Network-White-Paper-V9.pdf

As part of the 5G-PPP Initiative, the Software Network Working Group prepared this white paper to demystify the concept of the Network Applications. In fact, the Network Application ecosystem is more than the introduction of new vertical applications that have interaction capabilities. It refers to the need for a separate middleware layer to simplify the implementation and deployment of vertical systems on a large scale. Specifically, third parties or network operators can contribute to Network Applications, depending on the level of interaction and trust. Different implementations have been conducted by the different projects considering different API types and different level of trust between the verticals and the owner of 5G platforms.
