EVOLVED-5G project Presentation at Smart City Expo World Congress

CAFA Tech Booth in Smart City Expo World Congress
/in NewsCAFA Tech is participated in the Estonian Joint Stand at the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona, which took place on November 16th -18th . More than 400 companies were represented at the fair, introducing innovative solutions to create a better urban life for people and enable more efficient and inclusive urban services. CAFA Tech, EVOLVED-5G partner, presented the CAFA Worker robot and the 5G cellular drone at the fair and introducing Evolved 5G and project’s results .
The CAFA Worker robot works both autonomously and remotely over 4G / 5G to replace the direct presence of a person in a hazardous environment doing routine work.
The fair will be accompanied by a congress with many exciting presentations. All presentations can be watched online via the website:

The Architecture Working Group publishes the Release V4.0 of its White Paper “View on 5G Architecture”. In this Release, the Architecture Working Group provides a consolidated view of the architectural efforts developed in the projects of the 5G PPP and other research efforts, including standardization. This serves not only to review the current state of the 5G architecture, but to also identify promising trends towards the next generation of mobile and wireless communication networks, namely 6G.

“An open source 5G experimentation testbed” Conference Paper Presentation
/in NewsEVOLVED-5G partners presented the conference paper entitled “An open source 5G experimentation testbed” on the context of IEEE MeditCom 2021 which took place in Athens on 7-10 September 2021.
EVOLVED-5G builds the first 3GPP NEF emulator to support SMEs on 5G Programmability
/in NewsEVOLVED-5G envisages the openness and network programmability of the 5G Core through standard 3GPP exposed APIs, such as the ones provided from Network Exposure Function (NEF), a border function of the 5G core network. Towards this, NCSR “DEMOKRITOS” partner is developing the NEF Emulator, an open source project, that implements the standardized NEF APIs in a configurable emulated environment, where the user can define specific simulation environments (e.g. number and type of UEs, position of gNBs etc.) and then the respective NetApp to be tested by interacting with the emulated exposed NEF APIs. Dr. Harilaos Koumaras, principal investigator from NCSR Demokritos and Technical Manager of the EVOLVED-5G project stated: “EVOLVED-5G and NEF Emulator democratizes the 5G openness to every third party that is interested to develop 5G-aware services and applications, the so-called NetApps. NEF emulator is an easy tool that provides access to the 3GPP NEF APIs, even if a real 5G Core network is not available”.
